Sunland Derby winner’s exercise rider deported to Ireland

The exercise rider for this year’s Sunland Derby winner, Firing Line, has been deported to Ireland.

Federal officials tell ABC-7 that British Jockey Paul Anthony Eddery was deported to Ireland on April 23 and arrived in Ireland on April 24.

Immigration agents took Eddery into custody before he could board a flight out of El Paso shortly after the Sunland Derby in mid-March..

His former attorney told ABC-7 in March that Eddery entered the U.S. on a visa waiver program and he was in the country after his permit expired.
