Church resumes after last week’s bombings
Everything carried on as usual today at Holy Cross and Calvary Baptist Church.
“It’s a part of our faith and we come to church no matter what,” one member of Calvary Church said.
“Our faith is too strong,”Governor Susana Martinez said at a news conference last week.
Governor Martinez has assured Las Crucens that justice will be served.
“Whoever did this will feel the full pressure of the law,” Martinez said.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation is still searching for the person behind the two bombings. But that didn’t stop church members from attending Sunday.
“I had no fear, I really didn’t,” a member of Holy Cross Church said.
Both services had regular attendance.
“This morning I was greeted with embraces and warm hugs,”Monsignor John Anderson of Holy Cross Church said.
Monsignor Anderson says he’s thankful for the support of law enforcement and members of the community this past week.
“I’m like the father of a family and when the father and the whole family have gone through something like the eight o’clock mass last Sundayin the threat of bombings they were very grateful they were very appreciative,”Monsignor Anderson said.
And while church members remember what happened last Sunday, many say they feel at peace.
Since last week’s bombings, both churches are looking at upgrading their security systems.
Holy Cross Church has set up a page to raise money for security cameras. You can donate at www.gofundme.com/holycrosslascruces
