City Manager asked by public about his pay raise

tough questions from residents tonight … on the heels of city council’s decision to give him a pay raise of more than 60- thousand dollars. tonight was the first time he publicly addressed the pay raise. it happened at a town hall meeting hosted by city rep emma acosta. acosta along with fellow city rep dr. michael noe stood behind gonzalez and reiterated the need to keep his salary competitive with other cities. they also discussed accomplishments under his oversight including the fact he helped zero out a 7.5 million deficit and saved the city millions of dollars. tonight he was asked why he felt he deserves the pay raise: “i don’t think that’s a questio for me i think the council made the decision they based it on the market. i’m very humbled by their support and by them coming out tonight it’s very heartwarming and it’s also a great message to my family.” “its not that i’m totally against it what i think is that the timing isnt correct. city manager gonzalez recently had a performance evaluation review, he merited a pay increase so that was good for him and his family it’s great for the citizens of el paso however to increase that again, or another pay raise of 50 thousand dollars is not correct.” if you haven’t shared your opinion is not correct.” if you haven’t shared your opinion on this story,
