Update: Person killed in single-vehicle Sunland Park, NM crash on Friday identified

Oct. 5 Update: New Mexico State Police have identified the driver killed in a traffic collision in Sunland Park, New Mexico Friday.

She has been identified as 27-year-old Corina Lozano of El Paso, Texas.

The single-vehicle crash occurred at about 10:30 a.m. near 880 McNutt Road.

New Mexico State Police say the preliminary investigation shows a Pontiac car was traveling southbound on McNutt Road when the vehicle exited the roadway and struck a light pole.

Police say Lozano was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle.

Passengers Steven Harris and Trina Edwards of El Paso were transported to University Medical Center for injuries sustained in the crash.

Police say alcohol is not believed to be a factor in this crash.

Original Story: Two people have been transported to the hospital after a serious traffic collision in Sunland Park, New Mexico Friday morning.

Sunland Park Police originally told ABC-7 that one person was being airlifted but the helicopter was later called off.

The collision happened in the 800 block of McNutt.

The area is closed off at the McNutt exit at Paisano.

No other details were immediately available.
