El Paso Police release name of man who allegedly robbed Whataburger with machete

Oct. 6, 2015 Update: El Paso Police have released the name of the man who allegedly robbed a Whataburger with a machete last week.

Joshua Angel Nunez, 31, is charged with aggravated robbery.

Police say Nunez is an ex-employee of the Whataburger he allegedly robbed. It is located near Montwood High School in East El Paso.

Police say Nunez was wearing a mask at the time of the early morning robbery.

His bond was set at $75,000.

Oct. 2, 2015 Story: A male is in custody after allegedly robbing an East Side Whataburger with a machete.

Police say that shortly after 4:30 a.m. Friday, a masked male, wielding a machete, entered the Whataburger in the 12100 block of Montwood and demanded money from employees and witnesses.

A witness gave the male money after the suspect threatened the business manager with the machete. Police did not disclose how much money the witness gave the suspect.

The suspect then left the business and fled the scene.

Officers have one male in custody they believe to be the person who committed the aggravated robbery.

Police have not released the suspect’s name or booking photo.
