Head to Chalk the Block Downtown this weekend

Chalk the Block, the downtown arts, music and entertainment festival, is set to continue its trend of getting bigger every year. There are more than 200 artists and nearly 40,000 people expected at this year’s festival, running today through Sunday.

Some of the artists announced for the upcoming festival include Laser Cat – a giant inflatable cat head that shoots lasers, projects images and plays music.

“We really like to think that Chalk the Block is an event for people who love art,” said Ben Fyffe, assistant director of Museum and Cultural Affairs. “Who like going to museums and concerts and also for people who would never consider themselves art lovers. We’ve really got something for everyone.”

The event has grown from just twelve artists and about 2,000 attendees since its start eight years ago.
