Some vets skeptical of City’s veterans committee
council members after a local veteran presented the idea. city council members then interviewed and selected 9 veterans to serve on the committee. those 9 will meet for the first time this coming monday to discuss various veteran services. but some veterans are skeptical of their agenda. abc 7 reporter evan folan tells joins us live to tell us why … evan? bob, today i went around town to speak with veterans to get their opionion on this committee and i also talked with one of the committee members to better understand their plans. sots: “do you think it is going to make a difference? we will wait and see to see what proactions they take and what they try and do to rectify our problems we are having right now. know exactly what they are planning on doing in the long run.” committee member david nevarez tells me that this committee was formed to serve as a source of information for el paso’s large veteran population. the committee’s goal is to get the veterans needs out to the public for issues involving housing, education, medical and employment. nevarez also acknowledged the skepticism… sot: “there is skepticism and they feel that it is a political thing but that is farther from the truth.” ultimate goal is to leave el paso a better place than when i got here.” the meeting is scheduled for monday at 5:30 in the trost conference room and anyone is welcome to attend. information for the meeting will be available on kvia dot com bob?
