Local organization helping some in city ‘rebuild together’
non profit organization is offering to do the work… free of charge .. for a select few. new at six — abc-7’s iris lopez introduces us to one of those families with a new roof over their heads: train from home nat “we can really help her out and her house is falling apart.” amanda ferrero’s grandmother, ana maria, has been living in her lower valley home for the past 9 years. she lives in the home with her daughter, her daughters husband, and their 4 children. the family of 7 survives off a monthly income of 3-thousand dollars, and after being unable to afford the repairs for a leaking roof, the house began to fall apart. “we came across this house months ago. 2:15 “living in this environment i definitely not healthy.” after receiving a 15- thousand dollar grant from lowes, rebuilding together of el paso, a non profit organization, came together to help maria and her family. 4:56 “rebuildin together has a mission to improve the homes, the lives, of elderly low income home owners, and we do that free of charge with the help of the community” 1:18 stand up: ” after thi weeks rainstorms the house conditions only got worse, and every time it rains it will continue to deteriorate.” :19: “no mas me la nubia ya estaba, ay ya viene el aqua ya viene el aqua.” an maria says that she always feared the storm clouds because it meant rain was on its way and that would cause more damage to her home. come next week, however, she will not have to worry about that anymore. “an we want to finish it all within a week time. they will install a wall heater which is completely broken, they will start to tear down the roof, and put down a new roof on this home so that they stop the leaking.” an earl christmas gift for maria “es mi regalo de navidad.” and her family. iri lopez, abc-7 rebuilding together of el paso helps out about 50 home owners per year, and this year they plan on helping 60. a group of utep students set out to help others in need
