Defense rests in Lisbeth Garrett murder trial
Defense calls no witnesses in Garrett murder trial
Defense attorneys for 76-year-old Lisbeth Garrett rested their case without calling any witnesses or presenting any evidence Tuesday morning. The court stands in recess with closing arguments scheduled for 8 am Wednesday morning. Garrett is accused of murdering her husband US Army Major Chester Garrett back in 1977.
Lisbeth’s youngest son Patrick testified for the prosecution Monday. He testified about how he cleaned a large stain from the floor of the family’s garage shortly after his father’s death.
Prosecutors say Lisbeth and her other son Roger beat and stabbed Maj. Garrett in their east El Paso home. Roger, the victim’s stepson, is already serving a 40 year prison sentence for his role in the killing.
