‘Tough Enough to Wear Pink’ takes over Aggie Memorial Stadium

Aggie Memorial stadium was colored pink Saturday evening.

Thousands of football fans were donned in pink to support breast cancer awareness.

The “Tough Enough to Wear Pink” campaign has been going on all month long
and is one of the largest breast cancer awareness organizations in the world.

Founders for the “Tough enough to Wear Pink” organization have raised close to
$4 million in the past 9 nine but they say it takes the whole community to make something like that happen.

“It has taken the entire city. The A on the mountain is pink, there are banners up and down the streets City Hall is pink, car dealerships have pink flags and a lot of people from Las Cruces wear pink on Fridays,” said “Tough Enough to Wear Pink” founder, Pat Sisbarro.

You could see the community support in the stands at Aggie Memorial Stadium.
Fans wearing pink galore. Cheerleaders wearing pink socks. Football players clad in pink. A pink Pistol Pete, a dog with a pink tail and yes even pink his and her mustaches.

But of course the point is to raise breast cancer awareness, have women and men get their early screenings, to provide support for those who have been through
or are going through the perils of cancer
and to raise money for cancer research.

“The work goes to researchers here at New Mexico State University and the University of New Mexico who are doing cancer research and hopefully find a cure and let’s get rid of this horrible disease,” Sisbarro said.
