Water main break shuts down intersection in west El Paso

An intersection in west El Paso is blocked off Thursday morning due to a water main break.

The break happened at the intersection of Carousel Drive and Carnival Drive.

The break was reported just after 2 a.m.

Javier Camacho, public information officer for El Paso Water Utilities (EPWU) says crews have barricaded the area and diverted traffic.

EPWU will be replacing the pipe that broke.

The water main break is affecting 12 residential customers in the area.

Crews are working to restore water service to those residents, but it is unknown at this time when service will be restored and the intersection will be reopened.
