Woman upset after pit bulls kill her Chihuahua

On Monday, Mary Flores says she got a called from her neighbor that her dogs were being attacked by pit bulls.

According to Flores, her dogs were inside her fence during the attack. Flores says one of the pit bulls grabbed one of her Chihuahuas through the fence and dragged it out of the yard then killed it.

Flores says her neighbors were only ticketed, but is upset the dogs aren’t being taken away.

Animal Services says that pets are considered property in the State of Texas. Since the dog attacked another animal, the punishment only results in a fine.

If the neighbor’s pit bulls were out of their yard during the time of the attack the owners will be charged with non confinement, which could cost them up to $75 to $500.
