Shopping malls see fewer customers than previous years

According to America’s Research Group around 80 percent of consumers never set foot inside a shopping mall this holiday season.

Consumers would rather shop online or at free-standing stores. Britt Beemer, CEO of ARG, says there are three reasons why consumers avoid malls: time, lack of help and higher prices.

After a financially poor November and December, Macy’s has decided to close 40 of their stores nationwide. None of them are in the Borderland but half are located inside malls.
