crews are removing concrete barriers sunday and monday nights. the eastbound lanes of i-10 will close from 9pm until 5 the next morning between lee trevino and zaragoza. now just 25 days until the pope is in juarez… abc-seven’s complete coverage continues… .. with group tickets to see the “two nations, one faith” eve at the sun bowl about to be released. today, the diocese of el paso with a message for those of you trying to get some. that’s right rick… good evening everyone, i’m ashlie rodriguez. your chances of getting a ticket to see the pope in juarez up close and personal are not very likely. and tonight, we’re getting the new information… on what the diocese of el paso is doing to accommodate large groups who want to sit together at the “tw nations, one faith” event. that will happen in the sun bowl as the pope’s mass is underway just down the rio grande. “we’ve seen a steady flow o people buying tickets, we’re encouraging parishes and priests to buy blocks of tickets for their parishioners. the sun bowl has working diligently working with us so groups wanting to sit together can sit together.” remember utep is closed february 17th while the pope visits our sister city. the school says the event at the sun bowl will add too much traffic to the campus and could jeopardize the safety of staff and students. the diocese is expecting a packed house and since the pope’s visit is so meaningful to a lot of you… the diocese wants you to be able to sit with your friends and family. but a spokeswoman says you need to buy those group tickets now: “starting on feb first, we ar going to release those tickets and so many of the people calling us now outside the region will then have that availablity and we’d really like for the local people to have those seats instead.” after attending a hotel-motel association meeting — city rep. emma acosta learned el paso hotels are not selling rooms for the pope’s visit. she says in fact, some have no bookings that week. at this point hotels in juarez are completely sold out according to city officials. not the case here: they are not sold out and they want to be sold out. but there’s plenty of room available at all the hotels, even the ones downtown don’t forget about our pope slideshow at kvia.com right now. click on the pope banner on our home page to see photos from el pasoans who traveled to philadelphia to see the pope back in september. we’ll also update you on the pope’s visit on social media. just like the kvia.com facebook page … and follow us on twitter at- abc-seven-breaking. just 25 days to go until the world watches the pope’s historic visit to the borderland. another live look at the city tonight
