El Paso man arrested for allegedly filing false report
A man was arrested for filing a false police report and insurance fraud after reporting that his home was burglarized.
On December 8, 23- year old Quinton Dekle called the police to report that his apartment had been broken into and property was stolen. The investigation revealed that Dekle had fabricated the story and that some of the property reported to have been stolen had in fact been destroyed by his girlfriend during an argument.
Dekle was arrested for filing a false report on December 21 and booked under a $5,000 bond.
Further investigation revealed that he had filed an insurance claim stemming from the same case through USAA. On February 23, DEKLE was additionally charged with Insurance Fraud over $2,500 but less than $30,000.
He was arrested at his residence in the 10300 block of Gateway North and booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility under a $10,000 bond.
Insurance Fraud is a serious crime that costs the insurance industry millions and those costs are eventually passed on to the consumer. Every person who pays for insurance is affected by others committing that crime.
