UTEP running back Aaron Jones arrested on suspicion of DWI
UTEP running back Aaron Jones was arrested on a DWI charge February 10th.
The arrest happened on the 2900 block of N. Mesa.
Jones was was pulled over after a sheriff’s deputy witnessed Jones swerving from lane to lane.
“We are waiting for the process to fully develop and once I have all the facts, I will evaluate the situation,” head coach Sean Kugler said. “There are consequences to poor decisions and Aaron (Jones) will be held to the same standard as every other student-athlete in our program.”
Jones bond has been set at $600.
The Burges graduate is one of the Miners’ best players. He was named a team captain last year, and already ranks eighth on the program’s all-time rushing list with 2,341-career rushing yards. He has scored 20 total touchdowns in his 23 game collegiate career.
Last September, Jones underwent surgery after suffering a foot injury. He was out most of last season due to that injury.
His brother, Alvin Jones is a linebacker for UTEP.
