Verdict in Ross Flynn trial

and pushed in this jail cell video — is suing the city of las cruces for more than 12 million dollars. first, though, he must answer for the charges that landed him in jail in the first place. police arrested him and charged him with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon … assault on a peace officer … and resisting arrest. police say it all started when flynn threatened a friend’s neighbor over a parking space back in 2014. “natural sound: police arguin with flynn” jurors were shown this video in court earlier this week the neighbor called 9-1-1 and told them flynn was holding a gun and, quote, “acting crazy.” when police arrived, flynn allegedly became combative and an officer had to taze him. yesterday, flynn took the stand to tell his side of the story. his defense showed jurors which part of the semi automatic rifle he was holding when he knocked on that neighbor’s door and asked her to move her car. flynn says he was holding the gun because it cost 3-thousand 500 dollars and he didn’t want someone to steal it from his truck. he said he wasn’t aggressive … never pointed the gun at the neighbor … and did not understand the police officer’s orders to stand down. after deliberating for hours this morning, the jury reached a verdict just a few hours ago. abc-7’s jamie warren is live from our new mexico mobile newsroom. jamie? it was all smiles from ross flynn here this evening after the jury made its decision. it found flynn not guilty on two of the three charges he was facing. here you see flynn shaking hands with his defense attorneys. he tells us today’s outcome is a success. the jury couldn’t prove beyond a reasonable doubt flynn assaulted the police officer that night. they also found him not guilty for that aggrivated assault charge— a fourth degree felony—after that confrontation he had with the neighbor while holding a gun: ross flynn: “that one had m really nervous i spend a lot of times shooting guns as a hobby and that would’ve taken away my second amendment rights and that was really the one i was terribly frightened about keythan park: we’re a little bit disappointed with the verdict but the jury spent a long time they spent 3 hours going through 3 days of testimony so well respect their verdict we understand they had a tough job to do but were overall happy with the verdict but somewhat disappointed as well the judge put flynn on a 1,000 dollar unsecured bond. he faces up to one year behind bars on a guilty charge of “evading arrest.” an el paso man is being held without bond on child porn charges.
