School Bus Union voting on tentative agreement
the year? union members are voting tonight on an agreement their leaders reached with s-t-s new mexico. abc-7’s jamie warren is live from our new mexico mobile newsroom. jamie? rick and estela, we still don’t know all the details of the contract bus drivers are voting on here inside. we do know the union was asking for a safer environment for kids – and more money. we wanted to know, if sts’s increased cost will impact the las cruces public school system next year. no one is commenting yet, but the district and contractor agree the money the district gets from the state is not enough. the district says its contract with sts it more than 5 million dollars this year. that’s about 800,000 dollars more than the state provides. the sts- nms district manager agrees funding is a problem. 3:32:21 that has consistently gone down so it makes it harder and harder for the private contractors and the school districts for that matter to run their transportation correctly and until we get the ped to allocate more money to the fund we’re going to find ourselves time and again in the situation we went through these whole last couple of months we are still waiting for a vote. we will update you on air and online when we get the latest info. live in lc with our nmmn jamie warren abc7. tax day is stressful enough, but changes to the health care system can
