80-year-old man injured in weekend crash dies
An El Paso man could have charges against him enhanced after the man police said he rear-ended died.
Miguel Moctezuma, 32, is charged with intoxicated assault. He’s accused rear-ending 80-year-old Arturo Quintero about 10 p.m. Saturday on the 1500 block of Joe Battle.
Police said Moctezuma was driving drunk when he tried to exit Loop 375 at Joe Battle. He allegedly slammed into Quintero’s pickup, causing Quintero to lose control and crash into a rock wall.
Moctezuma failed a field sobriety test and was booked into the El Paso County Jail on a charge of intoxication assault, police said.
Quintero was taken to Del Sol Medical Center, where he died two days later.
Investigators with the El Paso Police Department’s Special Traffic Investigators Unit said Moctezuma could face additional or enhanced charges. That will be determined once the investigation is completed.
