Former NFL player inducted into El Paso Hall of Fame

Former NFL defensive lineman Brian Young was one of eight people inducted into the El Paso Athletic Hall of Fame Wednesday night.

Young was a four year starter for the UTEP Miners, and then was drafted by the St. Louis Rams in the fifth round back in 2000.

Throughout Young’s nine year career, he amassed 298 tackles along with 22.5 sacks. And now, Young was granted another honor right where his career began.

“It’s a heck of an honor, I have always called this home,” Young said. “I have always called El Paso home, and to be a part of this, to be a part of El Paso down here is an honor.”

Some of the others inducted into the El Paso Athletic Hall of Fame included World Boxing Champion Jennifer Han and coach Anthony Morgan, who won a state title in basketball at the 6A level.
