EPISD confirms identity of teen killed in Friday’s rollover in NE El Paso

Police are not identifying the underage driver and passenger killed in a rollover last week.

The crash happened shortly before 4 p.m. Friday on the 8800 block of Gateway North.

According to Chapin High School’s website, the passenger killed was Chris Carreon, a senior and a member of the baseball team.

Police identified another passenger inside the wrecked 2004 Ford Mustang as Alejandro Alonso Almodovar. He is also a member of the baseball team, according to an EPISD official.

The identity of the 17-year-old driver, seriously injured along with Almodovar, has not been released by EPPD.

Police say the driver was speeding and rolled the Mustang when he struck a curb.

ABC-7 has learned students are planning a memorial ceremony for Carreon on the Chapin High baseball field at 5 p.m. Tuesday, May 10.
