Far East EP Wendy’s falls prey to cyber attack, customer credit card numbers compromised

If you’ve swiped your credit card at a Far East El Paso Wendy’s restaurant in the last seven months, you may want to check your records.

The restaurant, located at 1890 N. Zaragosa, has fallen victim to a series of cyber attacks, the Better Business Bureau confirmed Wednesday.

The Far East El Paso Wendy’s is the only local restaurant affected. Investigators said 1,025 locations around the country experienced a credit card breach.

Customers’ names, card numbers, and expiration dates were among the compromised information.

Officials say the attacks were discovered in May, and are currently undergoing investigation.

“We have conducted a rigorous investigation to understand what has happened and we are committed to protecting our customers and keeping you informed,” Wendy’s said in a statement.

Customers who have paid credit at this location from December 2, 2015 and June 8, 2016 are urged to call (866) 779-0485 for more information on fraud consultation and identity restoration services.
