Visit El Paso promoted city’s affordability, hospitality in bid to attract juggler’s convention
Hundreds of people from all over the world are visiting El Paso to attend the International Jugglers’ Association.
Jugglers came from Japan, Chile, France, Sweden and several other countries to take part in the 69th annual festival.
Visit El Paso, an operating division out of Destination El Paso, had to bid to bring the festival to the Borderland back in 2012.
The director of Visit El Paso, Brooke Underwood, said she sold the idea of bringing the festival to El Paso by promoting the city’s affordability, trademark hospitality and unique terrain.
Through the course of the seven day festival, Underwood says more than 400 jugglers will be staying in El Paso, which has contributed to a positive financial impact on the city.
Underwood said the jugglers will be using about 900 hotel rooms a night and eating at local restaurants, which is helping bring in close to $500,000 in revenue to the Borderland.
The multi-generation festival has never been hosted in Texas. One juggler said the multi-generation event has taught them physical skills, performing skills and life skills.
