At about 7:30 p.m. Thursday, July 28, Las Cruces Police were dispatched to 999 W. Amador Avenue, near El Caldito Soup Kitchen. Officers found a 39-year-old man suffering from multiple stab wounds to his neck and upper back. The victim lost a lot of blood and was in critical condition when paramedics flew him to University Medical Center of El Paso.
The victim remains hospitalized and is now listed in stable condition. The victim told investigators Galvan stabbed him for no reason.
LCPD detectives are looking into the possibility that Galvan may be responsible for two additional stabbings that occurred July 27 and July 29. A 17-year-old boy was stabbed by an unknown man on July 27 as he walked along south Main Street. On Friday evening, at about 8 p.m., a 29-year-old man was stabbed near the area of 590 S. Valley Dr. His injuries were not life-threatening and the suspect in that incident remains unknown.
Las Cruces Police Spokesman Dan Trujillo the three stabbings were unprovoked and appear to be related. The suspect walked up to the victims and stabbed them.
“It could have been much worse, we could have had three deaths in these three incidents,” Trujillo said, “The victims are very luck they are still alive and the injuries are not life-threatening.”
An LCPD officer arrested Galvan Sunday morning as the suspect walked near the area of Hayner Avenue and Compress Road. Galvan was booked into the Dona Ana County Detention Center where he’s being held on a $100,000 cash bond.
