Suspect tased by officer on interstate, just missed by passing cars
GARLAND, Texas (NBC News/KXAN) – Police in two cities were involved in a dramatic high speed chase Tuesday afternoon that ended with a suspect being tased and arrested in the middle of a busy interstate.
Police say the chase started when they responded to a report of a suspicious person at a department store.
One person was arrested inside the store, but a man in a pickup truck outside drove away, heading the wrong way along the President George Bush Turnpike.
After leading police on a chase, the driver exited the vehicle, running onto Interstate 30.
The suspect jumped a median, racing into traffic before he was tased by officers, narrowly missed by passing cars.
Police were able to stop traffic and pull the man onto a service road, where he was checked out by paramedics.
Officers with the Garland Police Department worked with Texas Department of Public Safety troopers to arrest the man.
