ONLY ON ABC-7: Foundation grants cancer patient trip of a lifetime
A young mother is making every effort to create a lifetime of memories.
Brenda Hernandez, 34, has been battling cancer since 2013. What began as breast cancer has since spread to her bones, skull and liver. Doctors say time is running out as she continues to fight the aggressive cancer.
Her dream was to take her two sons, both under the age of 8, to Universal Studios.
On Monday, her wish was granted thanks to University Medical Center and the Dream Foundation free of cost. In addition to the flights and hotel, employees at UMC helped raise more than $2,000 for spending money on their trip.
“The hurt, the pain, the hospital stays and the nights that we don’t sleep,” will fade away when she is enjoying time with her family, Hernandez said.
“She is a great warrior, doesn’t give up and we are there with her supporting her 100 percent,” her mother, Ana Hernandez said.
The family will spend four days in Orlando enjoying local attractions like Sea World, Disney’s Animal Kingdom and Universal Studios.
