Community forum to be held for Children’s Museum

Those who want a say in the new Children’s Museum that will be going up in downtown El Paso will have a few more chances to voice their suggestions.

Three community forums are scheduled for area branches of the El Paso Public Library. They are:

Tuesday, March 28
Armijo Branch
620 E. 7th St.
5:30-6:30 p.m.

Wednesday, April 5
Clardy Fox Branch
5515 Robert Alva
5:30-6:30 p.m.

Wednesday, April 12
Sergio Troncoso Branch
9321 Alameda
5:30-6:30 p.m.

The $19.2 million children’s museum was approved by voters in the City of El Paso’s 2012 Quality of Life bond. The museum is will be built at 201 W. Main. The site used to be a Greyhound Lines maintenance facility, and is located across from the Convention Center and the El Paso Museum of Art.

Gyroscope Inc., a nonprofit organization from of Oakland, is working to create a master plan for the museum and will also oversee it’s operation. The El Paso Community Foundation is leading the public-private effort to build the museum.
