Sun City Fair canceled Friday as a result of strong wind gusts
The Sun City Fair at Ascarate Park has been canceled for Friday evening as a result of the strong wind gusts and blowing sand and dust.
“We want folks to have fun and it’s hard to have fun out here in conditions like these,” said Bryan Ellsworth, general manager of Universal Fairs.
The fair will resume Saturday and Sunday, Ellsworth said, adding Friday’s cancellation was also due to security reasons.
“Some of these rides that are lower level, the wind doesn’t affect them, but a couple of these bigger rides, once you hit 35 miles per hour winds, those rides just aren’t safe anymore,” Ellsworth said.
