Police arrest suspect in Popo’s Bar stabbing
Investigators arrested a suspect in the January 31st stabbing outside Popo’s Bar in Downtown El Paso.
Guillermo Ordonez, 35, is charged with “Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon” and “Aggravated Assault Causing Serious Bodily Injury.”
The stabbing happened shortly after 9 pm on the 400 block of S. Mesa.
Police said Ordonez got into an argument with 46-year-old Roberto De Avila and 32-year-old Luis De Avila inside the bar.
Once outside, Ordonez allegedly attacked the men with a knife and the 46-year-old De Avila was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries.
Ordonez, who had a warrant issued for his arrest soon after the stabbing, was arrested March 4th during a traffic stop in El Paso’s Lower Valley.
He was booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility on bonds totaling $125,291.
