Traffic stop leads to arrest of man wanted on drug charges

Police officers in Central El Paso arrested a man wanted on drug charges.

Officials say 33-year-old Manuel Enrique Gonzalez was driving in a BMW in the 3400 block of Morehead just after 9 pm Wednesday.

Officers pulled Gonzalez over because he allegedly ran a stop sign.

An investigation revealed Gonzalez was allegedly in possession of marijuana and cocaine.

Officers allegedly found 18 individually wrapped packages of marijuana with a total weight of 19.46 ounces and a baggie of cocaine weighing seven grams.

When Gonzalez was arrested, officers learned he had two outstanding warrants for “Manufacture and Delivery of a Controlled Substance (Over 400 grams)” and “Possession of Marijuana (over 4 ounces, under five pounds).”

Gonzalez was booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility on the outstanding warrants and new charges of “Possession of Controlled Substance (Cocaine)” and Possession of Marijuana.”

His bonds total $347,500.
