Sunland Park Police Department grows in size

The Sunland Park Police Department welcomed five new police officers on Tuesday, announced three promotions and recognized an officer for saving lives.

Police Chief Javie Guerra and Mayor Javier Perea administered the oath to the five officers Tuesday evening at the Sunland Park Police Department.

The officers who were sworn in were Chris Loyd, Joseph Means, Gerardo Teyes, Chris Morales and Deputy Chief Mark Tarantino.

The three promotions were Lt. Juan Ortega, Lt. Eric Lopez and Sgt. Steven Ramirez.

Officer Humberto Hidalgo was recognized for saving lives.
