New Mexico State University cancels ‘Tough Enough to Wear Pink’ effort

New Mexico State University will no longer hold ‘Tough Enough to Wear Pink’ campaigns for cancer awareness.

The university has held events in conjunction with the campaign for 10 years, including the pink Aggie football games, and has raised nearly $5 million.

“We’ve always known the life cycle of a volunteer effort such as ours is limited and we believe the completion of 10 years is a tremendous achievement,” said Pat Sisbarro, co-chair of ‘Tough Enough to Wear Pink’.

Cowboys for Cancer Research and Tough Enough to Wear Pink created a $1.5 million endowment in 2011 with the NMSU Foundation to support cancer research at NMSU.

ABC-7 is told the funds will continue to support cancer research efforts.

Organizers encourage the community to contribute directly to the cancer research endowment through the NMSU foundation.
