EPPD: Police officer at fault for early-morning crash Downtown

El Paso Police responded to a crash involving one of their own in Downtown El Paso Monday morning.

The wreck happened on Mesa Street between Yandell and Missouri Avenue around 3:30 a.m.

Police told ABC-7 a squad car driven by an officer collided with a Chevy Camaro on Mesa street.

Both the officer and the driver of the Chevy were taken to an area hospital with minor injuries.

A spokesperson for the police department told ABC-7 the police officer was at fault and given a citation.
