Officers arrest person behind SWAT standoff at Northeast apartment

The person behind a SWAT standoff Friday night at a Northeast El Paso apartment was taken into custody and charged with aggravated sexual assault of a child, police said.

About 7:30 p.m. Friday, a spokesman for the El Paso Police Department said officers were executing search and arrest warrants on the 11000 block of Dyer Street. However, ABC-7 spotted several officers blocking the entrance to the complex about since about 3 p.m. Friday.

Police said the subject, who surrendered about 9 p.m., was treated for minor injuries.
