There was some good news and some bad news following Saturday’s state high school soccer playoffs.

The good news is that the San Elizario Eagles are moving on to the final four of the state tournament after defeating Bridgeport by a final of 1-0.

The game would go into 2 overtimes before a goal was finally scored, courtesy of San Elizario’s Eric Valdez.

San Elizario now has a chance to bring home another state soccer title to San Eli.

The last time the Eagles won a state championship was back in 2015.

The Eagles will now get ready to play Madisonville in the state semi-finals on Wednesday.

Unfortunately, the season came to an end for the Del Valle Conquistadores.

Del Valle lost to the Aledo Bearcats by a final of 4 (9) — 3 (8).

With the game tied at 3 and after 2 overtimes, the Conquistadores and Bearcats would go to a shootout.

The two teams would trade goals and would need extra penalty kicks to decide a winner.

In the end Del Valle would fall one goal shy in penalty kicks (9) – (8).
