Police say man died after hit and run crash and suffered a “medical episode”

El Paso Police say a man who was involved in a hit and run crash in West El Paso died at the hospital after being involved in a struggle and “medical episode.”

Police identified the man as 29-year-old Kevin McCarthy.

The crash happened around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday morning on I-10 and Executive at the off ramp. Police say that one of the drivers fled the scene.

According to police, McCarthy then ran to the Hotel HillVue at 500 Executive and started banging on doors looking for the driver who fled the scene. The man managed to break into one of the hotel rooms and got into an altercation with one of the hotel guests, police say.

During that altercation, McCarthy involved in the hit and run suffered a “medical episode,” and police say that he later died at the hospital.

Police continue to investigate the incident.
