Three El Paso area baseball teams wrap up district championships
Three local high school programs have wrapped up district championships in El Paso.
Powerhouse Americas High School is taking home its fourth title in the last five years.
In order to do so though they had to beat a tough Franklin High School, which they did on Tuesday by a score of 4-1.
Americas’ Adrian Torres said, “We just need to keep focus on playing our game our ball, keep doing what we are doing. Like I said, with what we are doing, we’re going to go pretty far.”
Bowie, another familiar playoff team, won the title in district 1-5A with a 15-0 victory over Jefferson.
The Bears are no stranger to district championships and plan on making it common occurrence.
“Oh, it feels great, not just because its my first one but because I know its going to be the first of many and we’re going to keep winning district championships,” said freshman Juan Camacho Jr.
The Eastlake Falcons are also wearing that district crown.
They locked up the 2-5A championship several days ago and have now won six straight district titles.
The Falcons completed district play with a perfect 14-0 record.
