Chihuahuas fall at home Tuesday night to Tacoma
The Tacoma Rainiers scored four runs in the top of the ninth inning to break open what had been a tie game against the Chihuahuas Tuesday night, securing a 10-6 win.
The teams entered the final inning tied at six, but the Rainiers quickly added the go-ahead run on a Daniel Vogelbach grounder that allowed Ian Miller to score from third.
The Rainiers then added a three-run homer courtesy of Taylor Motter later in the inning to take a 10-6 lead.
The Chihuahuas have now lost six of their last seven games, falling to 18-15 overall. Tacoma improved to 15-17 with the win.
The Dogs find themselves 2.5 games behind Salt Lake for first in their division after Tuesday’s results.
The Chihuahuas have now allowed their opponent to score in the first inning in four consecutive games after the Rainiers put one on the board in the first Tuesday night.
Tuesday’s game was the first meeting of the season between the teams. They will meet three more times at Southwest University Park this week.
