EPPD arrest three alleged juggers from Houston
El Paso Police, with the assistance of the Texas Department of Public Safety, arrested three alleged “juggers” from Houston.
The suspects were identified as Devante Marquis Tashon Brown, 23; Travion Ja Bre Beaudoin, 22; and Marnell Laray White, 23. All three are from Houston, police said.
Jugging is a criminal practice in which a group of criminals follow unsuspecting victims who just withdrew money from a financial institution. In most cases, the criminals break into the victims’ vehicles after the victims enter their home or a store and steal the money left behind in the vehicle.
The morning of Tuesday, May 8, 2018, officers responded to a burglary of vehicle call at a local business. Officers learned the victim withdrew money from a bank moments before his vehicle was broken into.
Investigators from the Central Regional Command later located the suspects’ vehicle at another bank in another part of the city.
The morning of Wednesday, May 10, 2018, police investigators assisted by DPS followed the suspects to at least a dozen banks across the city “before the offenders selected their next victims,” police said in a news release.
The three men followed a victim from bank in East El Paso to a church parking lot on Vista Del Sol, where they allegedly broke into her car and stole property.
The offenders then followed a man from the bank to a store at the 11000 block of Pebble Hills, where they allegedly broke into his car and stole two guns after he walked into the store.
A DPS trooper then attempted to stop the vehicle after the suspects left the parking lot, but the offenders fled in their vehicle.
Moments later, police stopped, apprehended and booked the suspects into the El Paso County Detention Facility.
Brown, Beaudoin and White, have each been charged with Theft of a Firearm, Burglary of a Vehicle, and Criminal Trespass. Their bonds were set at $12,500 each.
