Happy birthday, El Paso!

May 17, 2018, marks the Sun City’s 145th birthday.

What started as a small lawless town on the Rio Grande in 1873 is now consistently named one of the safest cities in the nation and is a finalist for this year’s All-American Cities award.

The City of El Paso is hosting a free celebration at the Convention Center Plaza at 5 p.m. that everyone is invited to attend.

There will be free refreshments, music and cake. The news release from the city said IBF World Featherweight Champion Jennifer Han will also be at the celebration, signing autographs and taking pictures with fans.
