Chihuahuas fall 5-0 at Fresno Friday night
The El Paso Chihuahuas were held to just two hits in a 5-0 loss Friday night against the Fresno Grizzlies.
The Dogs tied their lowest hit total not only for the season, but in franchise history.
The Chihuahuas were also shut-out for the second time this season. Incidentally, both shutouts have come at the hands of the Grizzlies.
To make matters worse, El Paso shortstop Luis Urias and manager Rod Barajas were both ejected after a check swing strike call in the fourth inning.
Fresno was already leading 4-0 at that point after scoring three in the first inning and adding another run in the second.
Fresno’s A.J. Reed hit a two-run homer in the first – his 15th career home run against El Paso.
El Paso’s Brett Nicholas recorded a double while Carlos Asuaje added a single for the team’s only hits on the evening.
The Dogs fell to 24-25 with the loss while Fresno improved to 29-20 overall.
The two teams will meet four more times in Fresno before the Chihuahuas return home after a nine-game road trip.
