EPPD: Man charged with animal cruelty after chained dog dies in front yard
The police department’s Animal Cruelty Unit charged an El Paso man after police discovered the chained body of a dead in the front yard.
Arturo Calderon, 51, is facing three counts of Cruelty to Non-Livestock Animals.
Detectives and Animal Services officers found the dead dog at a residence on the 12100 block of Obrady in Northeast El Paso.
“Two other emaciated dogs were at the residence and none had access to food or water,” police said in a news release.
Arrests warrants were issued for Calderon’s arrest. Police said he was taken into custody Monday when he appeared in court for an unrelated matter.
Calderon was booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility under bonds totaling $2,400.
