Parkland High School sits atop regional rankings; others crack top ten
The votes are in for the Texas High School Coaches Association preseason poll, and several local teams find themselves in the top ten to begin the season.
El Paso’s own Parkland High School was ranked number one in the 5A Region I, Division II poll. Andress was close behind them ranking number three in the same poll.
Burges also made the cut in 5A Region I, Division II, checking in at number nine on the list. Canutillo and Bowie also received votes for the top ten, but did not make the list.
Other El Paso teams that made the top ten were Del Valle, ranking seventh in the 5A Region I, Division I, along with El Dorado. The Aztecs, who are dropping down from Class 6A to 5A this season, just slid into the number ten spot in the poll.
Chapin and Eastlake will begin the season just outside the top ten looking in. Both are a single point behind El Dorado for the tenth spot in 5A Region I, Division 1.
We also had a Lions sighting with Clint clocking in at number nine in the 4A Region I, Division I poll.
