A sweet camp immerses kids into chocolate in West El Paso
Summer camps are a dime-a-dozen while kids are out for school, but one local chocolate shop is making delicious memories for its campers.
Chocolat’ – off North Mesa Street in West El Paso – offers a unique summer camp experience: Chocolate Academy.
It’s a summer camp for children ages 5 to 16.
Kids come 4 days out of the week for 3 hours to learn the history and craft of chocolate.
They even have an exam at the end of the camp where they must answer 24 questions before they can graduate as chocolatiers.
“Not one student is allowed to leave until they can answer all twenty-four questions,” Leigh Kersh, owner and teacher at Chocolat’ said.
And just like any good chocolate, the time at the camp disappears too quickly.
This year’s Chocolate Academy is sold out, and all wait lists are full, but owner Leigh Kersh told ABC-7 that students can start signing up for next summer in early 2019.
