“Suspicious candies” in Halloween bags prompt police investigation

El Paso police are investigating two cases of foreign objects found in Halloween candy bags.

The investigations were sparked by social media posts from two sisters who took their children trick-or-treating together in different areas of the city.

According to the posts, the sisters filed separate police reports after they found suspicious candy while sorting through their children’s bags.

Police did not elaborate in the alert sent to the media on which sides of town the sisters were trick-or-treating, or what those objects were.

There are no other independent reports of similar incidents, according to police.

EPPD recommends that parents inspect their children’s candy before allowing them to eat it.
