TRAFFIC ALERT: I-10 east completely closed at US 54. Drivers must exit Copia St.

Heads up drivers that plan on traveling on I-10 East towards Copia Street. Beginning at 3 a.m. on Sunday, I-10 East will be closed to all traffic at US 54 for 27 hours.

This closure is so crews can remove old pavement, place new pavement, re-stripe travel lanes, and place safety barriers in the area.

The on-ramp which connects Gateway Boulevard East to I-10 East to east of Loop 478 (Copia Street) will be closed to all traffic.

Drivers that need to head in this direction are asked to use the following detour:

Eastbound traffic on I-10 will take Exit 22A (Loop 478/Copia Street), continue east on Gateway Boulevard East, and re-enter I-10 east of Raynolds Street.

The area is expected to reopen by 6 a.m. on Monday.
