El Paso woman killed, infant hospitalized after car hydroplanes on Mother’s Day
EL PASO, Texas -- An El Paso woman was killed and her infant child and boyfriend were injured after their car hydroplaned off a wet road into a cement pillar on Mother's Day, police said Monday.
The deadly accident happened about 8 p.m. Sunday in the 3900 block of Delta.
The deceased was identified as 25-year-old Amber Torres. She died at University Medical Center where her 7-month-old child and her boyfriend, 36-year-old Nathaniel West, were being treated for injuries.
Investigators said West was driving the car when it hydroplaned while crossing a puddle of water; police believe he was driving too fast for the wet road conditions.
The deadly incident was one of five serious traffic crashes occurring over the weekend in the Borderland, at least three of which resulted in fatalities. The others were...
- 1 woman was dead & 6 others hospitalized after a Sunland Park crash
