SANTA FE, New Mexico -- State health officials on Friday reported six new coronavirus deaths across New Mexico, including one in Doña Ana County.

That marked three deaths within the past two days in Doña Ana County, doubling the county's death toll from three to six during that 48-hour period.

The latest Doña Ana County victim was identified as man in his 60s who had been hospitalized. The pair of victims reported a day prior were men in their 60s and 80s.

On Friday, there were seven new cases reported in Doña Ana County and two in neighboring Otero County. That raised the caseload totals to 637 in Doña Ana, which now ranks fourth among the state's counties in cases.

The total number of infections among Otero County residents now stood at 30. However, outbreaks at two federal detention facilities in the county continued to grow - although state officials tally those infections separately.

There were a half-dozen new infections among migrant detainees at the ICEO Otero County Processing Center, raising its total to 98. At the adjacent Oerto County Prison, there were 13 new cases to raise the cumulative count there to a massive 527; the number of prison infections alone exceeds those reported in all but five of the state's counties.

Across all of New Mexico on Friday, the total number of cases now exceeded 9,500, while the death tally to date was 426.

Below you can see county-by-county data for virus cases and deaths across New Mexico. The data comes from Johns Hopkins University, so the numbers may sometimes vary a bit from what's reported by the state health department.
