KANSAS CITY, Missouri (KMBC) — Ariel Young – the 5-year-old girl that has brain damage after a crash allegedly caused by former Chiefs assistant coach Britt Reid – is back at home and going through physical therapy, according to her family.

Tiffany Verhulst, who has been sharing updates for Young’s family, said in a post on a GoFundMe page that Young is out of the hospital after the Feb. 4 crash near Arrowhead Stadium that left her unable to speak or walk.

“We hope that her being in a familiar place will help her remember things,” the post said.

Verhulst says Young has started therapy, but the little girl has permanent brain damage “that she will endure for the rest of her life,” the family’s attorney, Tom Porto, said earlier this week.

“She is doing physical therapy but as of right now she still cannot walk, talk or eat like a normal 5-year-old,” Verhulst wrote. “Thank you everyone for your continued support.”

The Jackson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office said Monday Reid was charged with driving while intoxicated, a class D felony with a potential jail sentence of one to seven years. Reid posted a $100,000 bond and was been released.

According to court documents, Reid’s blood alcohol content was measured at .113, and he was driving 84 miles an hour 1.9 seconds before the crash near Arrowhead Stadium.
