LAS CRUCES, New Mexico -- The Las Cruces Public Schools district is holding a public forum Wednesday evening for the two finalists chosen for its vacant superintendent post.

The two finalists include Ralph Ramos, who has been serving as the interim superintendent, and Oscar Rico who is currently the director of information technology for the Canutillo Independent School district.

Questions in Wednesday night's forum will be moderated by the Superintendent Search Advisory Committee, an eight-member group of parents, LCPS staff, community members and a student. Board President Ray Jaramillo serves as chair.

Whoever is selected will replace former superintendent Karen Trujillo, who was struck by a van on Feb. 25 while walking her two dogs and later died from her injuries. The board expected to make their selection for the position at a June 1 meeting.
